Champions League Contenders for 2026/27
The outright market is tight at the top. As of 31 August 2026, bet365 had PSG at 5/1, Arsenal, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich at 6/1, Real Madrid at 13/2, Manchester City at 9/1, and Liverpool at 12/1.
Paris Saint-Germain
PSG are attempting to win the Champions League for a third season in a row. Luis Enrique’s side beat Inter 5-0 in the 2025 final before edging Arsenal 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in Budapest in 2026.
The holders have some awkward league-phase fixtures this time. Barcelona and Roma visit Paris, while PSG travel to Manchester City and Aston Villa. A short outright price therefore comes with several early tests against strong opposition.
Arsenal
Arsenal start among the favourites after coming within a penalty shootout of winning the trophy last season. Their league-phase draw is not particularly forgiving.
Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund visit the Emirates, while Arsenal travel to Bayern Munich and Napoli. Those matches should tell us plenty about whether their early outright price deserves to shorten.
Barcelona
Barcelona are another 6/1 contender, but their route contains two obvious heavyweight tests. Manchester City visit Barcelona, while Hansi Flick’s side travel to defending champions PSG.
Aston Villa, Sporting CP, Galatasaray, Feyenoord, Como, and Sabah complete their eight opponents.
Bayern Munich
Bayern reached the semi-finals last season before losing 6-5 on aggregate to PSG. Their 2026/27 draw puts Arsenal at home, with trips to Atlético Madrid and Manchester United among the tougher assignments.
At 6/1, Bayern sit alongside Arsenal and Barcelona immediately behind PSG in the early market.
Real Madrid
Real Madrid remain impossible to ignore in this competition. Their record 15 European Cups puts them well clear of AC Milan on seven and Liverpool and Bayern on six.
The draw also looks reasonably favourable for a Pot 1 club. Inter visit Madrid, while the most difficult away assignment is Arsenal. Roma, Shakhtar Donetsk, and AEK Athens make up their other away games.
Manchester City
Manchester City sit slightly behind the first five in the outright betting. Their schedule gives them little time to ease into the competition.
PSG visit Manchester, while City must go away to Barcelona and Porto. Napoli and Sporting CP are also among their home opponents.
Liverpool are next in the market at 12/1, with Manchester United, Inter, Atlético Madrid, Aston Villa, Napoli, and Borussia Dortmund forming the next group of potential challengers. The gap in price is useful, but reputation alone should not decide which club offers the better bet.
Champions League Betting Angles to Watch in 2026/27
The league-phase format creates more betting angles than simply picking the eventual winner. Draw difficulty, domestic form, squad rotation, qualification targets, and price movement can all matter across the eight-match schedule.
The league phase gives every team a different eight-match schedule. Two clubs can have similar outright prices while facing very different levels of opposition.

Finishing eighth and ninth produces very different routes through the tournament.
The top eight move directly into the Round of 16. Teams ranked ninth to 24th must play an additional two-legged knockout tie in February, adding another opportunity for elimination and two more fixtures to an already busy schedule.
Eight games leave room for recovery. PSG finished only 11th in the 2025/26 league phase with four wins, two draws, and two defeats before going on to retain the trophy.
One poor September result can move an outright price without ending a club’s realistic chance of going deep into the tournament.
The last two league-phase rounds take place on 19/20 January and 27 January 2027. By then, some clubs could be chasing the top eight, others simply trying to reach the top 24, and a few may have very little left to play for.
