Best prices are taken from Betfinder's cached sportsbook scan for the US bookmaker region. Odds can move quickly and availability varies by country, so verify the live price before betting.

The best price can vary between sportsbooks, particularly outside the shortest-priced teams. Comparing the market matters because even a relatively small difference in decimal odds improves the potential return without changing the selection.

We have also taken an early look at the outright market in our 2027 Super Bowl picks, where Denver was the price that caught our attention at 20/1.

2026 NFL Super Bowl Contenders

Preseason Super Bowl prices give us a starting point rather than a prediction. The NFL season is volatile enough that the market can look very different after only a few weeks.

These are six teams worth watching as the 2026 season begins.

Los Angeles Rams

The Rams begin the season at the head of the Super Bowl market after reaching the NFC Championship Game last season and adding more quality to an already strong roster.

Matthew Stafford remains central to the case. Los Angeles has enough talent to contend immediately, but Stafford is entering his age-38 season and any problem at quarterback would change the outlook quickly.

Strength: High-end talent on both sides of the ball
Watch: Matthew Stafford’s health and durability

Buffalo Bills

Buffalo once again starts among the leading AFC contenders.

The Bills have shown repeatedly that they can win enough regular-season games to put themselves in contention. The harder question for outright betting is whether the available Super Bowl price adequately reflects their repeated difficulty converting that position into a championship.

Strength: Elite quarterback play
Watch: Whether another strong season finally becomes a Super Bowl run

Seattle Seahawks

Seattle enters 2026 as the defending Super Bowl champion after beating New England in Super Bowl LX.

The Seahawks start their title defence against the Patriots on September 9, making the opening game the first season-opening Super Bowl rematch since 2016.

Repeating is difficult, but Seattle has already proved that its approach can survive a postseason run.

Strength: Championship-level core
Watch: Whether the market starts charging too much for last season’s success

Baltimore Ravens

Baltimore remains prominent in the AFC outright market and has enough high-level talent to justify being treated as a genuine contender.

That does not automatically make the Ravens a good bet. At shorter prices, the margin for error becomes smaller and another inconsistent season would quickly make an early outright ticket look expensive.

Strength: High ceiling and established core
Watch: Converting talent into consistent results

Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas City enters this season in an unusual position by its recent standards: among the contenders, but not automatically sitting at the top of the Super Bowl market.

Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid remain an obvious reason to take the Chiefs seriously. A slightly bigger outright price may become interesting if the wider roster shows it can return to championship level.

Strength: Quarterback and coaching
Watch: Whether the supporting roster can close the gap on the current market leaders

Denver Broncos

Denver is already one of the more interesting teams on Betfinder’s radar.

The Broncos finished 14-3 in 2025 and went within one game of the Super Bowl, yet our earlier outright scan still placed them behind several AFC rivals.

That gap was enough for us to take the 20/1 available earlier in August, although Denver’s exceptional record in close games last season gives the market a legitimate reason to expect some regression.

Strength: Defense and an improving roster
Watch: Whether last season’s close-game success is repeatable

Our full reasoning is in our Denver Super Bowl betting analysis.

Other NFL Teams to Watch

The outright market extends well beyond six contenders.

Teams such as New England, Philadelphia, Green Bay, Detroit, Houston, Cincinnati, San Francisco, and the Los Angeles Chargers are close enough to the leading group that a strong opening month could change their Super Bowl prices considerably.

Rather than locking this page to a preseason ranking, the live futures table above provides a better way to track how that second tier moves during the season.

NFL Betting Markets

NFL sportsbooks offer hundreds of markets during the season, but most betting starts with a handful of core options.

Moneyline

A moneyline bet simply asks which team will win the game.

The important part is still the price. Picking the likely winner and finding a worthwhile bet are not necessarily the same thing.

Point Spread

The point spread gives one team a handicap.

For example, a team priced at -3.5 needs to win by at least four points to cover the spread. A team at +3.5 can lose by three and still cover.

Small differences matter because NFL games frequently finish around common margins such as three and seven points.

Game Totals

Totals markets focus on the combined number of points scored.

A game might be listed at 47.5 points, allowing you to bet Over or Under that figure.

Quarterback injuries, offensive line changes, weather and playing style can all affect totals, but price movement matters too. An attractive Over at 46.5 may be considerably less appealing after the market moves to 50.

Super Bowl and Season Futures

Futures markets include the Super Bowl winner, conference winners, divisions, playoff qualification, and regular-season win totals.

These markets give us more opportunity to compare long-term team strength against the available odds rather than simply trying to predict which team will finish with the best record.

Player Props

Player markets cover passing, rushing and receiving statistics, touchdowns and other individual performances.

They can be especially sensitive to injuries, depth-chart changes and expected playing time, making late information important.

NFL Betting Angles to Watch in 2026

NFL betting is rarely about finding one fixed rule that works all season. The most useful angles change with injuries, team performance, and the prices available, but these are five factors worth checking before betting on NFL games or futures.

Few major betting markets are as dependent on one position as the NFL.

An injury or quarterback change can alter the point spread, moneyline, and total almost immediately. That makes current team news particularly important before betting.

NFL teams only play 17 regular-season games, so individual results attract plenty of attention.

A convincing Week 1 victory doesn’t automatically make a team a better Super Bowl bet at a substantially shorter price. Equally, one poor performance doesn’t necessarily destroy a preseason case.

The question is whether the result revealed something meaningful or simply moved the market.

A schedule that looks difficult in August can look very different by November.

Injuries, quarterback changes and unexpected contenders alter the real strength of future opponents, so preseason schedule rankings should not be treated as permanent.

The best team isn’t automatically the best bet. An elite contender can be priced too short, while a weaker team can become interesting if the sportsbook price underestimates its actual chance.

That difference between prediction and price is where most of Betfinder’s NFL analysis will focus.

Two sportsbooks can agree that a team should be the Super Bowl favorite while offering different odds.

If exactly the same selection is available at 6.50 rather than 6.00, taking the bigger price gives you a better potential return without changing the bet.

This is one of the main reasons we built Betfinder’s live comparison tools.
